The first aspect I would bring up for your side is the cost, materials, and time to just establish/set up some of these alternative resources as regular sources of energy on the level oil+fuel have become in today's always growing world. And from my view, it will take decades to replace and fully adapt away from most of the important uses fuel has been providing for people.
But beware, I can already sense this, someone from the pro team will bring up the fact that fuel has been a major contributor towards the issue of global warming as the product releases CO2 into the air. ("Therefore this is why alternative resources should be considered.") He or she might even go onto connect this idea to some of the major weather events that have occurred these past few years such as the United States' Hurricane Katrina. Just be prepared to combat ideas like this.
Good Luck and have fun.
