The Culture Club singer has released a video for his cover of the Lana Del Rey viral hit, which the musician delivers with slide guitars and Nashville flair.
The lushly arranged take soundtracks the love story of British couple seen smiling at the beach and sharing cotton candy before appearing to go their separate ways. The musician himself doesn't appear in the footage.
"Video Games" is the lead track from an album of covers George will release through his upcoming website, BoyGeorge.com, according to George's existing page. It will include "many of his favorite songs," including several Italian tracks previously intended for a charity EP.
He released a solo set, "Ordinary Alien," in 2011, telling the BBC at the time that his reformed group was at work on a new studio album for 2012.
"We'll be doing a proper, sort of huge worldwide tour and a new album," he said, telling Billboard.com in February 2011, "Everyone gets along really well now. I think it'll be a really fun experience." Further news on the group has yet to materialize, however.
This song is really a game changer (Lana's original), one of the best songs released in the past 24 years. I think it's great it's getting a second life with all the cover versions of it.
