Yellowcard's Ryan Mendez has informed the community on their website that their next album should be completed in mid-February for an April release "so they can begin touring". In an earlier interview, when asked about album details, frontman Ryan Key claimed that sound of the album is, for now, unknown, but they always want to "go in a new direction".
On January 8, 2007, a 30 second demo was posted on their Myspace, featuring a violin line. It is possible that it will be included in a future song of Yellowcard. Blogs are being posted many days a week on their Myspace perhaps to reaffirm that they are still on track for a Spring 2007 release.
As of January 12, 2007, according to their Myspace blogs, the drum tracks and guitar tracks have been layed down. They are currently working on bass tracks in the studio, with the violin coming in at an unnamed time.
They continue to stand firm in getting away from the "pop punk" label in making this new album, which is believed to be on track so soon because of the promotional difficulties and lackluster sales of Lights and Sounds.
Yellowcard are currently engaging in feedback response with their fans to somewhat suggest or influence the outcome of the upcoming album. When asked about the direction of the album, Ryan Mendez responded that this follow-up to Lights and Sounds "has the energy and intensity that Ocean Avenue had and some similarities, but not necessarily exactly the same".
