I've always been astonished at "LoveGame" digital sales and a little disappointed with "Paparazzi". In the end, I call them duds because they didn't hold up against her first two singles, while people like Katy (an example of digital power) keeps racking up 4x-5x single after single. I don't mean for dud to hold too strong of a negative connotation, just when you compare, they are for me.
And I apologize, "BR" did move rather quickly. Only assumed there with how it performed early on. But no, I don't feel it's an exaggeration.

When Adele has 7x Platinum, 5x Platinum, and 4x Platinum singles from an album that outsold Gaga's entire discography alone. Oh, how they must be seething.

17. Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection
I hope this can go 2X Platinum there. They should release the movie there. It can do wonders for the album.

It's been eligible for 2xPlatinum for months.
And yes, iTunes is relevant in Brazil.

Mexico is the most important iTunes in Latin America, the next one is Brazil.
The others Chile and Argentina sales are like some European countries (Sweden, Finland or Belgium)
But the rest of Latin America is really irrelevant.

Gaga really only has "Poker Face" and "Just Dance" to her name, as Clash noted "Bad Romance" took a very long to reach major numbers. And even so those were longevity hits, while Katy comes and really sells powerfully throughout each single release. Gaga had duds early on ("LoveGame", "Paparazzi", "Telephone", "Alejandro") and of course the entire Born This Way era (as a whole). Even the title track. Selling 1 million copies in 10 days really doesn't matter to people when you close with a little over 3 million.

I remember back in 2010 EVERYONE knew/expected Firework to be a humongous hit, & of course it became bigger than ever expected, but I still didn't put her on GaGa's selling level because the BtW era hadn't started yet & GaGa had so many double-platinum singles from The Fame (Monster) that Katy still have compared with 3 4x platinum singles.
It was definitely around a combination of E.T.- Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) I reconsidered my reasons why I continued to call GaGa the digital queen when it obviously wasn't true anymore. After Firework, people expected LFN to be a huge seller in the summer but no one had expected E.T. to smash like it did. I feel like no one else could have pulled it off like she did, & still sell that much with a 4th single (especially per week - she was getting 300K+ sales! ). The fact that she could retain that kind of power so far into an era was extremely impressive. LFN sold decently afterwards & all of her following singles have had sales that fairly match their airplay & impact in my opinion. Obviously her team & herself is digitally-savvy by doing these remixes too; as much as people hate them, they were a smart marketing move & turned out successfully. The discounts were smart too.
Around the same time E.T./LFN smashed, I noticed the BtW singles not selling as much. I would've still called GaGa digital queen while BtW was ginormous but the lack of longevity & final sales compared to opening sales was meh. The Edge of Glory sales are underwhelming for the amount of times I heard it on radio, I would've expected it to be at 3x platinum or higher. Digitally, TEoG never impressed besides the opening week. Y&I was the only single which had sales that impressed me because of how low its airplay was.
GaGa can regain a lot of it back but I feel like she'll never be quite as strong as TFM. Which isn't her fault entirely; new artists just have a digital advantage.

I'd say that her strength during TFM is vastly overrated. She has only had 3 songs pass the 4x Platinum mark, and her radio numbers weren't that strong either. I don't think she's even passed 100 million in BDS. Sure, she has on Mediabase, but that's not what the official charts go by.
She's certainly a sensation, but she's become more of a humanitarian than the pop musician she started out as. Which is fine, by all means, but you only need South Park to look at how people perceive Bono nowadays.

At the time, no one was having so much success with consecutive single after single, & she was breaking a ton of records. Not even Katy has two 6x platinum singles from the same album yet (TD will eventually share that honor & probably break it). I don't think her digital power during TFM days was overrated. The only single that didn't sell amazingly was Alejandro. Telephone never had a single huge sales week, but it sold a ton over time. It sold so much before it was released as a single which added to the final sales. 3x platinum is very good & matches the success it had in my opinion. LoveGame's sales are also fair for what it did on the Hot 100. She may not have gotten nearly as many #1s or sales as Katy did with TD but at the time (2009-2010), she was definitely the epitome of a digital seller (her albums also had amazing digital sales). I wonder how much Teenage Dream has sold digitally.
Her radio power is good but not record-breaking like Katy. Her biggest radio success is TEoG in my opinion. It didn't sell amazingly but radio gave it tons of support. I heard it non-stop until about Winter of last year.

I would have to agree with MusicTalker. The fact that her airplay has consistently not been nearly as high as, say, Katy or Rihanna's speaks to exactly how strong she was back then. She was a hype MACHINE; everyone was talking about her.
Plus, GaGa basically pioneered the explosion of digital sales with BEP. She was able to get a 6x platinum hit with a single (couple?) weeks at number one, selling extremely consistently.

I think her problem with radio is that she has always been overshadowed by someone else in the airwaves.
Just Dance was Single Ladies.
Poker Face was Right Round and Boom Boom Pow.
LoveGame was I Gotta Feeling
Bad Romance was Tik Tok
Telephone was Rude Boy
Alejandro was Calfornia Girls and OMG
The Edge of Glory was overshadowed by the most: Rolling In The Deep, Give Me Everything, Party Rock Anthem, Super Bass and Last Friday Night
Born This Way and Paparazzi are her only chart toppers on Radio Songs, and honestly, they got lucky. I would even say that BTW was overshadowed by S&M, E.T. And Forget You.
And I didn't include Judas, You and I and Marry The Night because they were flops on radio. Y&I not as much as the other two though.

Why are people comparing Gaga to Katy? Digital Sales were nowhere near as big at Gaga's peak as they are right now during Katy's. Plus what's the point? Gaga's the bigger name, but Katy has the bigger hits.
