This weekend, Ted got the second place, Ted fell 41 percent to $32.2 million. That gross is about even with The Hangover's second weekend, albeit with a steeper decline. However, the movie's $119.9 million 10-day total is ahead of The Hangover through the same point, and it's hard to imagine a scenario where Ted doesn't close above $200 million.
Ted is already on its way to becoming one of the highest-grossing movies of the year domestically, and now the raunchy comedy is looking like it could be a huge hit overseas as well. The movie opened to $13.1 million in Australia (including $4.5 million from previews), which makes it Universal's biggest opening ever in that country. Its only other debut was in Taiwan, where its $1.9 million qualifies as the best comedy opening ever there. Ted's next major launches come in Russia, Germany and the U.K. on the first weekend of August, and it is set to make a gradual international roll-out in the next few months.
