Let’s be brutally honest. Pink Friday had an amazing debut and has had great longevity. Her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded hasn’t gone a fraction of the pace of success as her debut album. On top of this she has received a lot of backlash for having half her album be “pop.” On top of this, as her success becomes more international, she's is becoming known for her pop smashes as opposed to her urban smashes.

However, in Nicki’s defense, she has only been main stream for 2 solid years and is still figuring out her sound, but with a fickle general public, time is not on Nicki’s side. The general public is unpredictable and fickle, and will easily jump onto the “next best thing.” Do you think Nicki will go back to her “core” and focus on delivering a solid Hip Hop dominated third album? Do you think Nicki’s next album is her last chance to move from the realm of being the “popular it girl” to the road of becoming an iconic female rapper?

If Nicki does a full fledge hip hop album it would flop. She has to find a way to incorporate Pop and Hip Hop songs on her next album if she wants to maintain relevancy.

To be a hip-hop artist? Yes. Right now she can only rely on her pop hits, all her urban singles haven't had much impact, which has clearly affected her album sales. If she makes another pop album, she will probably never be able to go back to the same selling power she had during the Pink Friday era.

Is anything ever someone's last chance? Look at the string of recent comebacks among seemingly faded or reviled female pop stars: Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Pink, Kelly Clarkson. All it takes is one great song to get the public back on your side.

The album's sales are horrendous, but I would give her one last chance. If her next album doesn't smash, then we can say her time is over.

And honestly, the only reason she's breaking records is not because of her rap, rather her pop.

All Nicki needs to do is find a balance between her pop sound and her urban sound. She needs to ditch the generic hit-makers and find creative and interesting dance beats if she wants to keep doing dance music and not become a joke. She can easily make a hip hop album with pop undertones without it being slammed as generic. Roman Holiday has an amazing chorus, and the beat isn't totally urban and is open to a pop audience, while Nicki still gives crazy verses. Same with Super Bass. She just needs to put the effort in, which she didn't do with PF:RR.

She's fine, I really like her first album but I'm not here for that Roman reloaded stuff. She's just experimenting is all. Its better for her to have diversity in her discography.

@Toya: There comes a point in your career where you have to transition from "the hot new it girl" to "working my way to becoming a legend" and I think Nicki is still in the lane of "the hot new it girl." I understand Nicki is trying to bridge the gap between pop and hip hop, but she's doing so at the expense of heavy criticism. A lot of people are considering her a pop star as opposed to a rapper. I'm not saying that after her next album she'll disappear, but I'm asking if her next album is her chance to prove herself as a bonafide rapper. I honestly feel that if she pulls another Roman Reloaded, with half hip hop and half pop, she's going to encounter a lot more criticism and tarnish her chances of becoming a iconic female rapper.

And that's what I want too, I'm not here for her pop side, leave that to the other pop girls.
Maybe she should drop her alter ego's too, I think it'd be quite interesting to see like a normal Nicki.

I know many people who feel the same way as me though, they are so tired of her it's kinda sad.
But I do think she can revive her image.

PF wasn't a full hip hop album and PFRR is definitely not a full hip hop album. Nicki whole goal was to crossover and gain mainstream appeal, with that being said I doubt she would release a full hip hop album in fear she would loose the support/relevancy she gained with her pop songs.

the only thing she needs to do is find a great balance of hip-hop and pop like super bass, last chance, fly, your love, and moment 4 life, i think if she makes a solid hip-hop album with pop undertones she will smash and gain her acclaim and respect back, nicki is having her "rated r/born this way" era right now, i think with her next album she needs to get rid of the dance pop and add more pop/hip-hop songs like roman holiday, young forever, and marlyin moonroe. i dont think its over for her its only the beggining, shes the most successful female rapper/ pop star at the moment shes breaking records everyday, nicki is not a flash in the pan i honestly think she is here to stay.
