Now that I'm done ranting about people who feel like their opinion matters even when they start off by admitting they haven't even listened to what everyone's discussing.......
I'm not sure if I'd call it the best. I always have problems calling things "best."
As for favorites? Right now, I think I like fun.'s Some Nights, Lana's Born To Die, Keane's Strangeland, and Jon McLaughlin's Promising Promises more, but Channel Orange is certainly up there and could overtake any of those given more time.
People should really say what the best album of 2012 is for them instead of just saying "I haven't even listened to it yet, and I don't even think I would, but no". That'd be appreciated. I'm open to new music, specially if it's better than Frank's.
I say definitely by Grammy standards and I do see this being nominated for album of the year and definitely winning R&B album of the year at the Grammy's next year. By ATRL standards it's not album of the year because most of the people here want those big radio hits which this album doesn't give you, it has hits but not those redone, will.i.am, dr luke typical ones. People expecting Lonnie Breaux stuff don't realize all of those songs were demo's for other artists looking for radio hits, Frank's stuff starts with Nostalgia with the exception of a few songs like No Bonnie. Channel Orange is innovative from a production standpoint as well as songwriting. Just the same way that Adele's album didn't fit into the music landscape at the time I can see Channel Orange doing the same thing. Grammy winning album for sure, ATRL album of the year, no.
