IMO, Nicki was going a step in the right direction with RIM. It had criticism, true, but there was more praise for it than there was hate. Even if you love it or hate it, SH was also another step going right. I mean, we were getting rap from her. The only issue with SH (that I could see from comments and other people) was that the name was a turn off and the repetitive hook. Lyrics were good IMO...that's where everything started going south. The backlash from the Grammys, her dropping Starships, The half-pop album, The lackluster performances in the beginning (looking at you NBA All-Stars ) was what turned people off. If I could turn back time.....what Nicki needs is someone to tell her no from time to time. I know she's expressing herself through this album and having fin and all, but she turned off so many people who were here for her in the beginning in just a matter of months. She could've had fun while still executing this album properly and starting the era off right. Oh Nicki...

The GRAMMYS is where crap went wrong and set a bad taste in people's mouth, imo. To be honest, the general public doesn't even know what Roman In Moscow is and Stupid Hoe, while hated by some, got Nicki's name in people's mouth again and, like you said, the only thing that is really bashed is the chorus.
What I don't understand is why they GRAMMYS requested she perform Roman Holiday when that was never the original plan. I honestly believe without the Grammys, everything would have been fine.
I still think the era is perfectly fine actually, but I just mean as far as backlash people were mentioning.
