I'll give ya'll the benefit of a doubt if you're ESL, and have misused this. But to some of ya'll. You need to pick up your dictionaries.

An oxymoron, by definition:

It's not the same as irony. Learn the difference. There are similarities by essence, but the conceptual use in grammar is not the same thing.

Examples:

- defeaning silence
- Bittersweet
- truthfully false
- really fake
- tragically pleasant

Which one of us EStrL'ers has been using "oxymoron" incorrectly? The only person I've seen using the word at all is you. This thread just looks like damage control to make yourself feel better for using the word incorrectly in the first place, so I'm not sure why you had to be so condescending in the OP when you're the one who's been using it wrong.

I hardly see anyone use that word here. If anything, "irony" is the one that keeps getting misused.
