WAIT. Lyzz the Monster's post made me think about how much the Paparazzi video has to do with her career. The rise to fame, amazing videos, singles, etc. then the downfall. "Lady Gaga hits rock bottom" (BTW era) and then the "We Love Her Again" and "Lady Gaga is Back!"

I know it's not true though, just a coincidence. An rather interesting coincidence at that.

What do you mean by "on purpose"? If you think the era was a commercial disappointment, then no, no label/pop star sets out in earnest to see disappointing returns in pursuance of some overarching career storyline of redemption.

So no, I don't think it was intentional; however, I feel like there were major benefits to her having an "underperforming" era. She knew she had a lot of good will stored up from the public from TFM so she made the music she wanted to make, which really can only be beneficial for her as an artist. In the process, she writes off the album as something "for her superfans" so they are on her **** even harder and she builds herself up as something more than just a regular popstar with her message all at the same time. She may have lost the public a bit with BTW but they are fickle as ****. She just needs to put out a few catchy hits and they are hers again.

It obviously depends on the artist. Gaga is someone who is involved on the process and from the results of their work together it's been proven he can organize her ideas into visually stunning pieces of work.

Isn't the BTW era completely successful to Interscope? According to them BTW has sold 8 million albums.

I'm not saying the BTW era was a flop , I'm saying that they obviously knew they were doing things wrong when choosing who directed the videos and stuff like that. They're not dumb.

The album sales met my expectations (2-2.5m US/ 6-7m WW) when the project was first announced (although I never expected her to open to such huge numbers).

And I knew the tour would do well, but it's surpassed all my expectations.

There's no denying that the collective impact of her singles/videos took a hit this past era, though.
