to say that 1000 streams = 1000 sales = 1 chart point is clearly untrue.
that would mean:
100,000 streams = 1000 chart points. If a song just debuted, it would be impossible for it to debut at #1. It would have to sell 1M at least to debut at #1.
HOWEVER...
the Hot 100 formula could mean 10,000 streams = 1 chart point. That would mean the #1 song on streaming, which has 1M streaming points, would gain 100 chart points. That seems more reasonable, and the actual number is in there somewhere.
now get this...
let's say 10,000 streams = 1 chart point.
a day = 1440 minutes.
if you take a 4-minute song, and divide 1440 by 4, that would = 360. That means a 4-minute song can be played 360 times a day.
now take 10,000 and divide by 360. That gives you roughly 27. That means 27 people unrelentlessly playing a 4-minute song a day would give you 1 extra chart point.
now take those 27 people and do that for 7 straight days, and that gives the song 7 extra chart points for the week.
you all have this gigantic list of radio support. Take all of those people and stream Wide Awake unendlessly 24 hours a day. If there is 27 of you, that would give Wide Awake an extra 7 chart points for next week. Isn't streaming manipulative?
If there is double that....54 of you...that would be 14 extra chart points.
think about it.

Yeah, but do they regulate streams, though? Can't they tell if it's all by one person?

I know most of you already know but...

Katy Perry has 451% sales surge
Katy Perry has experienced a sales boost in the US following the release of her new film Part of Me.
The singer's second studio album Teenage Dream saw a sales increase of 451%, pushing the collection up to number two on the Billboard 200 chart.
The collection sold 76,555 copies over the past week, almost two years since it was originally released, according to Hits Daily Double.
However, Perry's film Part of Me failed to achieve similar success at the US box office, reaching number seven during its opening weekend with ticket sales of $7,150,000.
Meanwhile, the movie reached number four on the UK box office chart and number six in Australia.

i don't know. I'm just throwing it out there as a possible thing to do other than request at radio. It is quite plausible. Can a person only stream a song once per day in order for it to count? I'm sure not. If they stream it twice, i'm sure it would count. Therefore, if they streamed it all day long it should count as well.
gather this new group of radio support people and put the efforts into streaming.
i've given the equation. It's logical. Now let's DO IT!!!

The problem is that many of us are not from US So, Spotify won't work for us and I don't think Youtube is considered as streaming.

So I just got the Spotify trial for two days. I'll just leave my iPod on with Wide Awake on repeat.

diversify!
the people from outside the US do radio requests, and the people living in the US stream Wide Awake on Spotify.

realistically, let's get a big group of US people, and let's say....play Wide Awake on Spotify 10 times in a row. That's reasonable. And let's do that everyday from here on out.
we can do THAT can't we?
who's in?

report when you've played it 10 times, and we'll get the ball rolling.
