Not to mention, the song currently at #1 on iTunes is a mid-tempo/ballad.

There is absolutely no way Pound the Alarm is going #1. I think the song will be a big hit though, but not a #1. Pound the Alarm probably would've gone #1 in 2008, but it won't now.

Who the hell cares about a song hitting number one though?? Look at Starships and Super Bass. Nicki is worried about longevity as a single not a number one hit.

And CMM is generic. PTA is trendy. People should know the meanings of words before they use them.

Just listen for a sec. Call Me Maybe is generic, but not in the way that most other songs on the radio are right now. For example, let's take Wild Ones, Starships, Scream, and Good Time. They all have extremely similar beats, and all are about having good times and partying. However, Call Me Maybe sounds completely different from every other song because it has influences of disco music and does not rely on an overdone pop melody. It's lyrics aren't even like those in most other songs right now; rather than partying it up, Carly sings about how she wants a guy to call her. CMM may be generic, but it is not generic in the context of today's popular songs, and that is precisely why it hit #1 and PTA will not.
