We all know which flop was bigger though, which is why MD is considered her flop album.
Going from the IT girl, smashing records and selling millions in the BA era, to barely even getting a 2nd single video... AIEW was only a flop because of the label and controversy, the music was not a flop. You keep saying it had loads of promo, but it also had a lot of **** ups. If handled properly AIEW could have easily outsold Stronger.
And if AIEW had sold more and done better for Kelly's career, whose to say Stronger wouldn't be selling more from the momentum? I wish it would've been more successful, but the album still sucks.
I love MD and I think we can all agree that the music on there is great and emotional. This is why I love Kellz. Buuutt it did set her back quite a bit in regards to pop success. To this day, that era is why people always think she's making a comeback. It's a great album though. Can I have a kiss, Chivas, Maybe and Sober are amaaazing.
AIEW is a very underrated pop album. It DID get her a lot of attention after MD fiasco though. MLWSWY was/is a smash commercially. She really did experiment quite a bit on it too. It was mismanaged which is why it didn't 'perform" as well. Ready, Save you, IICHY and Cry are flawless. IDNHU should not have been a single and AG should not have been the third single.
Stronger's singles have the potential to be the best set of singles since BA which could make it a classic album. There are a handful of songs I would have left of the album, but i think they are getting the singles right this time around. WDKY is her most successful single. DS is simply an absolutely amazing song. Even if you're sick of it now, you know you were obsessed with it when it leaked.
Each album brought something different to the table. All necessary.
The last page but TBH AIEW is one of the best Kelly's albums... Flop opinions = flop stans
Flop stans are the ones going all wishy washy with their love for a song or album. One minute they're all "EPIC track" and "Queen " and the next "One of the worst songs/the worst album from KC".... Not to mention the fact that they're overall negative about stuff they're ready to give up on a song or album. That's what I consider a flop stan

Also, 4 adds on Top 40 today!! Better than last week where we got 1 and I'm not even sure if all the stations have reported yet. A decent sized add from the #23 ranked station.
Agree. Considering the amount of money thrown into promo, producers and song writers, it was her most least successful commercial album.
My December didn't have label support, they were very little money spent vs. All I Ever Wanted. Combine that with the lack of radio support (ie no payola), scaled down tour and lack of sales, AIEW holds that title.
Now, if we want to talk about Kelly's least successful album period, that would be My December.
The fact is people weren't here for sugary-sweet Kelly. It wasn't legit and while many may not have bought/supported MD, they knew the image she was portraying throughout the AIEW era was not genuine. She was an artist who had been publicly humiliated by her label bosses (rightfully so tbh) and was now going to give them everything they wanted (no pun intended).
AIEW was an era filled with unnecessary controversy, too much of a reliance on Katy Perry sounding tracks and stripped Kelly of the identity she once had. Thankfully with Stronger (and new label bosses), Kelly was a humble student of the game who was able to mesh what her label wanted and what she wanted to put into an album....something her arrogance would not allow her to do during the creation of My December.
