I was trying to figure out her sales, because most of these 11M copies comes from her second album, her debut album wasn't that huge, and you said it yourself her second album is about 5M and it didn't cross 6M, so her sales are definitely inflated.

I believe she shipped 11 million copies, i read last year that One Of the Boys shipped 5 million copies, and if Teenage Dream sold more than 5 million, it's possible that she shipped more than 6 million.

Plus if you include the countries that Mediatraffic don't count it makes sense.

She has a lot of certifications WW for her album, more than Justin Bieber for example.

Hmm, i'm not sold on the digital sales from the US. Wasn't she already at 37.4M at the end of 2011? Surely POM + Wide Awake have helped top it off to 40M.

37.6m tracks sold in the US and 74.6m WW? I find that ratio so incredibly hard to believe considering how almost all her hits have been a lot more successful in the US, relatively speaking. IFPI had CG selling 6.5m WW with 4m + of that coming from the US, for example.

It's the ONLY source for worldwide sales....aside from labels, who obviously inflate.

Yea, but they only published ONCE a year, and they only show the top 10. It's good for seeing the best songs of the year, but seeing a songs total sales. As in, songs continue to sell after that, but usually not enough to re chart in the top 10. Labels can easily inflate sales by listing shipments, but how can they inflate single sales?

they are professionals, they don't inflate as much as the labels do, for example interscope stated that born this way has sold 8M copies WW at 2011, and I believe they were talking about shipments, but some info got leaked from IFPI about the top 10 selling albums of 2011 with adele leading shifting 18.1 million copies worldwide, and Michael Buble second selling 6.5 million and then lady gaga third but no number was given, so that means gaga shifted less than 6,5 and she was at 5,4 on mediatraffic's end year chart so she might has shifted 6M at 2011 according to IFPI and that's not even close to interscope numbers.

According to Mediatraffic, OOTB sold 1.5 in 2008 and 1.3 in 2009 on their respective year-end charts. Are we supposed to believe it doubled its album sales in 2010-2012? Don't think so. I would say 3-3.5 million is a safe range factoring in mt's small potential inaccuracies and time since release.
