January of '07 has presented a 17% drop in sales over the same period last year. CD Sales are declining every year.

iPods continue to sell at enormous rates.

What do you think is going to happen to CDs?

If the trends keep up, I think albums will start to be released online and CDs will become extinct maybe even before 2017.

They will be gone, I know that. Yeah, they will either be downloaded or something.

I think what they'll do is make less cds. Like instead of gettin dust on cds...they'll make less. And if they run out they run out...so be it. I buy cds still and I don't want them to get rid of them....

If they do keep CD's, then hopefully the CD's will be made of different material that can't be scratched after a week.

Yes, digital downloads will replace CD's eventually. And it's a shame because a CD is a work of art, but people only care about the hottest single of the moment without even considering all the effort that is put into making a CD

I think they'll do what they've always done, and that's bring something new and better to the table. I think that cds will be replaced with something like a cd, but with more concepts.

i still buy CDs, quite alot too. I've already bought 2 in 2007, and i'm thinking about buying another 2.

CD is already like a signature to music.I don't really like digital downloads coz it will be calculated with the internet cost.So i hope CD is still available...

I think that CDs will still be made. I think it will slowly fade away into extention in the future like the VHS has.

That already exists. Enhanced CDs, with video and unlockable stuff on the computer. There isn't much more they can do to a CD.

Cd's are a lot better than buying them online why?

Because

A. You don't personally own the cd booklet, case and cd.

B. If your computer dies...you lose all your music YOU PAYED for.

C. If your Ipod breaks...there goes all your music (Unless it's on your computer still)

D. Itunes doesn't allow you to re-download music which is really stupid in my books.

If think they should let you download songs again if you paid for it already. I remember when I had to pay for a song THREE times because the first time I lost it somehow...and I think I lost it again so I bought it three times.

And the last reason why cds are better!

E. It's something to collect. Like if you look at my room I have cds everywhere. It's just cool to have so many cds. But if it's all on the computer...what a booring room. And not only that but it's just cool to collect such things because of the booklet and the pictures included and lyrics and hot covers....

I'll stick to buying cds until I die. But yeah some cds aren't worth buying...The cheapy kinds suck!!

And what may the cheap kinds of cds be?

The flavor of the month CDs.

Also another positive aspect of CDs is that you can share it over and over again with your friends and family. With iTunes purchased stuff, you can only allow 5 other computers to listen to it.
I don't know about you, but I don't like being told what I can and can't do with my music.
