Katy Perry recently said in an interview she would like her career to be like Madonna's, and of course people said she had no chance, and was being delusional, but I don't think she is. I know people say she'll flop after TD, or never be able to match TD, but think about it. She has had two albums out, and has already had 7 #1s, and WA is #1 on iTunes now!
She obviously is very clever, and knows what sells! She has a huge fanbase, and I doubt she will just let all of that go.
She obviously needs to improve on album sales, but if she re-invents herself, I honestly think she could be up there with Madonna, Mariah, Britney, Rihanna, Jessie J etc.
In other words, do you agree with me, and think Katy Perry will be sticking around?

I think she's be sticking around, but she won't...ever be on the level of Madonna, Mariah, or even Britney, simply because she has zero cultural impact or hysteria over her.

No. Nobody can be a Madonna but for Madonna herself.

I think in terms of music she will be as big. I do think she'll still be around 20 years from now making music.
In terms of her cultural impact I don't think so though. Madonna was lucky in that she was here first so she was the first to do so much and none of the new girls can do it because Madonna already did it. (Even though I don't like Madonna at all, this is a true statement.)
So I do think Katy will be the Madonna of this generation in terms of #1's and stuff but in terms of the cultural impact I think that belongs to another one of the pop girls.

People since the Get Go were saying she was just a flash in the pan and she has proved everyone wrong by continuously scoring radio and chart hits.
I even think that compared to other newcomers that are considered 'more relevant' to others (Not naming names but you know who they are) she has had a better career since she is the only newcomer that has not had a backlash and/or bad press.
I think that if she manages to reinvent her image and sound consistently she has much more potential than the others that have stuck to the same sounds and/or gimmicks.
So I say YES, it is very probable.

Yet!!!!
Teenage Dream brought her to a whole new level. She just needs her next move to be iconic.
If her next album turns out amazing, I mean critical and commercial success, I think she can do it.
