The star is seeking damages from New York-based Berdon LLP, and two of its staff that have left the firm, blaming it for poor book-keeping, a failure to advise her to cut expenses when her tour was losing money in 2009 and an ongoing audit by the US tax authority.
The suit claims that Berdon LLP took 22% of revenue from Rihanna’s Last Girl On Earth tour, whereas the singer herself only took 6%.
Blame is also placed at the firm’s door for an ongoing IRS audit of her tax returns and for not making sure she was being paid song royalties properly.
Rihanna hired Berdon LLP in 2005 when she was launching her career as a 16-year-old. The lawsuit claims that since Rihanna, now 24, fired the firm, her earnings have increased.
