I don't know if this was posted, but we already know Blackout was placed in the Archives of The Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame, but there is a comment from the director of it:
Quote:
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame wants “Pieces” of Britney Spears
Britney Spears is having a moment.
The 30-year-old pop star, who broke into the business as a member of the Mickey Mouse Club in 1992, finally has her life back on track.
Her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale, became the first LP of her career to chart three top ten singles with “Hold It Against Me,” “Till The World Ends” and “I Wanna Go.” She followed it up with a successful tour and an engagement announcement. Jason Trawick, Spears’ long time boyfriend and former manager, popped the question in early December. To top it all off, Britney Spears accepted a $15 million deal to become a judge on the second season of The X-Factor.
None of these accomplishments, however, compare to her most recent: an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s music library. Ironically, it was the album released during her breakdown, Blackout, that received the prestigious honor.
The Director of Library and Archives at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Andy Leach, explained Blackout’s inclusion. “We purchased that CD a few months ago as part of a project involving the acquisition of the most critically acclaimed albums of the past couple of decades.”
At the time of its release in 2007, Blackout was hailed by critics as Spears greatest work. It landed on Rolling Stones’s List of Top 50 albums of 2007. The magazine’s music critic Melissa Maerz praised Blackout, stating that it “is the first time in [Spears'] career that she’s voiced any real thoughts about her life.”
“Piece of Me,” the album’s second single, reflects Maerz’s opinion. Spears attacks critics head on with verses such as “I’m Mrs. ‘You want a piece of me?’/Tryin’ and pissin’ me off/Well get in line with the paparazzi who’s flippin’ me off/Hopin’ I’ll resort to some havoc/And end up settlin’ in court/Now are you sure you want a piece of me?”
Maerz continued on in her review to say that Spears was “gonna crank the best pop booty jams until a social worker cuts off her supply of hits.”
