Except I don't fail to do things like realize BTW was a sonic mess that sold far less than expected and I don't doubt that Adele is bigger right now than Gaga, so I'm really not delusional.
I have a question. I felt I should ask here because it relates to my liking Gaga.
Why do we Stan? And not even in the usual sense; there is legitimately no song Gaga has recorded that I dislike. I know there are others who feel the same about their favorite singers as well. My question is, why? Some Gaga songs are nothing spectacular if I try to view them in an objective way, but when I just say "**** thinking" and put Gaga on repeat, every song seems so beautiful, so complexly mesmerizing and fantastic in its own way. How is it that someone can like a person's music unconditionally but not feel the same for any other singer? It's not as if I'm some oddly obsessed stalker, either - my level of stanning is rather subtle but for this one thing I can't explain.
Some monsters dislike FOHL. Some dislike I Like it Rough or Teeth. But I don't dislike any of the 45(?) released songs she has. I don't have a clue why though.
I ask myself that question like once a month I think because we have(or a least I have) fell in love with her and her music. It's such a weird concept but like I love her, I get angry when people talk bad about her, I defend whenever i can. Maybe there's just a really likable trait we all see in her and we just run with it.
How can anyone like "Changing Skies"? Unlistenable mess.

Stanning = escapism. It's probably some form of feeling that their success is your success. The whole rewards system. You buy your faves album and it sells over 1 million copies in the first week, and you feel you've won because you helped her get there. etc.

Changing Skies without all that ****** autotune would actually be a great song. The melody is great and it's very catchy. I thought for sure that it'd be on BTW when I heard it because it's "anthemic" and it's lyrics uplifting...but instead we got Bad Kids
I do like the bridge of Bad Kids though, once in a long while

Yep I kinda like Changing Skies!

FLASHBACK: VEVO interview after Marry the Night, when Gaga says the next album will partly be about what's "real" or "authentic" -- she believes that the conversation she has with the interviewer isn't real, because of the cameras and lights, and she asks why a photo shoot with a professional photographer is "less real" than a candid photo shot by her sister on a family vacation.
Has anyone else noticed that she's been posting A LOT of candid photos of herself from her phone in the past few weeks? It seems almost every other tweet is a photo of herself on her bed, all the trappings of her superstar laid to the side, just her, and that's it. And now she's posted this instagram link, with several other candid photos of herself...
AND add to this the media blackout she's been heralding, in which she doesn't do interviews or TV appearances -- in other words, refusing the interactions that she considers "aren't real." Gaga seems to be relying on candor and authenticity, rather than artifice.
I think this fits into the paradigm of the decay of the blonde superstar and Princess Di/Die -- killed by the paparazzi and the press, by artificiality, basically. What's the only way a superstar like Gaga can survive the press? By controlling them, rather than them controlling her. By refusing to be artificial, and to only be her real self.
I'm thinking also of Gaga's tweet which was so unfortunately sullied by freaking Dot -- "I could find truth in this red lipstick all day." Obviously that's not going to be the album title, but lipstick could be considered a sign of artificiality, a way of adjusting oneself to fit others' perceptions, done for others' gratification, but not one's own. Gaga found the "truth" of herself beneath the artificial monster of fame that the media has made of her.
I noticed a very spiritual side to Gaga in the Born this Way era, with all of the mythological and religious references. I think she's going to continue to go in this spiritual direction, attempting to find her true self, asking, "Who am I?"
And that's what I think the next album is going to be about, but filtered through the lens of fame that accompanies Gaga everywhere. Not just "Who am I?" but rather, "Who am I without the fame, without a stage?" As Jo Calderone said, "That spotlight, it follows her home..." But what exists when the spotlight's shut out? None of us can say, only Gaga can. I think we'll see a very different side of her this era.
Me too. I want new things badly but I could never forget this era.
And Marry The Night. Still one of my favorite songs, its just so good.
Marry The Night is my favorite song ever and I don't care if that makes me a delusional ****
Honestly, Born This Way changed my life. Beyond helping me come out as bi and making me proud of my sexuality, Gaga was just so fearless with this album. Sure, it has it's flaws, but she experimentally so much sonically, thematically, and vocally. What other bitch has the (metaphorical ) balls to release a single with "transgendered" in its lyrics, follow that up with a song titled "Judas", and write about gay rights, immigration laws, feminism, and even Black Jesus? I mean, Gaga literally vomits her mind and has no fear and backs her **** up with genuine talent and creativity and intellect; that's what separates her from other basic pop girls and that's why I stan so hard for her. In the end, Born This Way will be remembered not for its failures, but for its fearlessness in making a bold and beautiful statement.

Aww
I always listen to BTW for empowerment. Like Gaga said, "who said dance songs can't have a message?"
Born This Way is Gaga at her strongest and most important. From the message and to the whole era.
Also, she had 100% control of this album, era, planning, everything this time around for what she wanted.

Very interesting read. Sounds fascinating.
I sooooo can't wait for the new era ;'jl;lkknjbh
Thanks sis.
Let me rewatch Gaga's last Insider Interview and the Vevo interviews that gave us the iconic GIF for more tea and understanding of what's to come.
And interesting post on the new album by a Monster:
That was a quite interesting read. "Princess Die" is good sample of that. I'm also very interested in how Gaga is going to show us the "real her" on this album with the producers she's reportedly working with. But probably she the only ones to see through what she trying to say are A) Pop music fans B) Her Fans & C) People who like to think.

I agree with what that poster said. Gaga has essentially learned a way to combat how the Paparazzi controls and eventually "destroys" stars.
She controls the Paparazzi and media now.
From her media blackout, etc. She controls her Fame.
