Tbh, think about Africa where girls are circumcised. The whole western culture and even the UN consider it as a severe crime. And the argumentation people use in Africa is just the same as yours: religion and tradition. When these people in Africa hear that female circumcision is forbidden in other countries, their outrage is just the same as yours. Of course, when boys are circumcised in western countries, they are given anasthetics, unlike in Africa where the girls don't, but technically, if we are against female circumcision in Africa and put the girl's right to live and right to be unharmed over the freedom of religion, we have to do that in our countries as well. I know it seems tasteless from the side of the German government, especially because it's mostly Jews who have their sons circumcised, but that's not an attempt of antisemitism, it's just because of the reasons named above.
