That's not true at all. Q4/Holiday seasons host the larger sales, but Q3-Q4 aren't exclusively regulated to major debuts.
21 opened with 353k last March and of course
Born This Way pushed over 1 million. There's plenty more examples that you can go look up.
The only thing true thing about quarters' differences is the fact the beginning of the year see less releases than the second half.
