And 4 wasn't a messy and random era? She released probably the worst lead single of her career which peaked at a miserable 29, she releases a ballad in the middle of summer, and she didn't even speak on her single or the album for a full month. We didn't even know the album name or the name of the single until April 21. The song leaked in the beginning of April. Of course there was hype around the album and her singles because it's Beyoncé and she was coming off the massive success of IASF, but the actual outcome doesn't always live up to the hype. She didn't even perform Run The World until the end of May. Rihanna had the biggest hit of her career, and she also has 2 more top 10 hits with You da One and Where Have You Been. And Black Friday and Christmas sales. And a Grammy boost and it still managed to sell the same as 4...
