I'd say for the longest time it was Britney because after her breakdown America seemed to just be extremely welcoming to her multiple comebacks.

I'd also say Beyoncé because she is really one of America's most love artists and is extremely celebrated in the industry.

Katy seems to be the most loved by the younger generation, though.

Not a generation. All Americans young and old. She has to be a household name, and parents are okay with their children listening to their music. and idolizing them. Its easily Taylor.
