Your version of hipster is what people here call normal. People have been dressing this way in NYC, Brooklyn especially, for the past 20 years. Lana, Gaga, and Azealia grew up dressing like this in the city, so I'd give them a little more credit.
The word "hipter" is overused. But yes, the "weird" look is not longer the de-facto look for pop artists looking to bank on Gaga's influence and image, now it's streetwear- generally inspired by 90s grunge and hip hop.
I've noticed a lot more people dress with "alternative" fashion in my town centre the past few months. I think it's Somebody That I Used to Know, We Are Young, etc. having that affect. Kind of like after In Da Club was popular, a lot of young boys were going around dressed like 50 Cent for a few years.
