The resurrection.

It was THE pop phenomenon of my childhood. No one was able to resist them and this song was the perfect introduction. It was pleasant and cathartic to see "grown up" people having a blast together and bringing down the house. My tastes have dramatically evolved since then but I don't look down on the girls. Their songs were great, catchy and well constructed, liking them was just a testament of one's good taste.

I just mean that it marked the beginning of the bubblegum pop explosion. The Spice Girls led the charge on that front, without which we probably wouldn't have had the massive success of TRL and the subsequent creation of Absolute TRL.
