Personally, I think in all instances death penalty is unconstitutional and illogical. I don't believe in taking someone's life just because they took some one else's. It kinda hypocritical, I'd say.

I think some people deserve to die but that doesn't mean we should actually kill them. We should be more civilized. Give them therapy or something, educate them so they aren't such sick ****s.

Nope... I do think they deserve to die, but simply killing them is not allowing them to suffer and face the consequences of their actions. I think they should have to live with their crimes for the rest of their God given lives. Besides, there's a lot of speculation surrounding Capitol Punishment and innocent people being executed (i.e. Troy Davis).

I don't know the cost, I'm sure it's expensive, but it's also really expensive to keep an inmate in jail for life. I mean, they don't throw out the death penalty to everyone who kills someone, it's a long process, and they dont do it to people who are proven insane. I mean, my feelings would probably change if it personally affected me in anyway, but as an onlooker I don't have a problem with it

I used to, but only for the worst cases (ie. serial killers, serial rapists, etc.). Now, I don't even believe that the worst of the worst should be executed. I have two reasons as to why my opinion changed:

1) Locking up a nasty criminal for the rest of their lives (which could go on for 40-50 years or more) is a more long-term and lasting punishment than simply killing someone after they've been on death row for a decade or so. It's an easy way out for the most diabolical criminals.

2) As we've seen recently in some very high-profile cases, we have a tendency of executing people that may or may not have committed the crimes that it is said they committed. Eliminating the death penalty would ensure that these people at least get a chance to prove their innocence before it's too late.

I'm for it. I know there have been facts saying that execution and the cases leading up to it are more costly to the taxpayers than life in prison, but I just don't feel right about taking care of a prisoner for the rest of his or her life automatically.

Sorry but when you kill someone or do something completely horrific, then you lose your right to live, in my opinion.

No, if only for the fact that we don't always kill the right person. Lock them up for life, then at least they'll still be alive if new evidence comes to light.

If you have to...I mean if the criminal just doesn't learn and keeps on murdering other people, the only way you can stop him is by taking his life. I mean what else are you going keep him in jail forever?

Yes. Only for murderers, though. Like murderers who are without a doubt guilty. Some people have to die and I'd rather not waste my tax dollars on keeping an evil person alive.
