The video fits the song once you understand what the song is about...
The song depicts the moment when you start to feel your relationship is bound to NOT last.
The song makes the parallelism between love being damaged = two people fighting.
The lyrics tells that at the start, albeit then the song dresses in a dancey jam what in lyrics is a sad and angry song.
To this meaning you have to add two elements:
1)the fact the song is about a REAL lovestory gone wrong through repeated fights over wether to get married or not (Anne V wanted a ring... Adam doesn't believe in marriage as half of the songs tells on this record, and in his whole life, so there was no space to keep the relationship lasting).
2)Adam believes the kind of career he is up to can't sustain a family life. He has often declared to keep a family up you have to devote to it all of your time, and in showbiz it isn't well possible, so he will have kids and family when this career ends.
What the video portrays at once is how the lovers fighting resemble a ring fight; and how to follow a career that implies taking away too much time from your beloveds is inevitably destined to ruin your relationship (one can agree or not, but this is what Adam believes and once again the plot was HIS just like with Payphone (he said it on the MTV interview yesterday).
It's a not so subtle message and it works well.
I like the video a lot, and I love Minka Kelly in it a lot, too.
Next video will be for Daylight... that is a romantic song about two far away lovers whose time together is running out before a long time apart; that was again a storytelling from his past relationship BUT if by the time the video will be shot he will still be with Behati Prinsloo, I am sure she will star in the video, as the same pattern of far away relationship is applying to her now, much like it used to be with Anne V when the song was blossoming from Adam's feelings.
It's gonna be a nice video; though I would have hoped for Somebody to Love to be the third single (I actually would have loved Lucky Strike, but in the Fall you need a ballad and that isn't one).
