To answer the question of the thread, CHRISTINA DID! The only reason I say that is because FF is only just a continued and poor man's experimentation of Blackout. There really wasn't much risk because it's just a continuation. The only risk she did was bring some dubstep to airwaves. Bionic was a completely different approach to what X typically has done.

What's so risky about Femme Fatale?

How does one jump on the dance train when she brought it to the forefront before the others did? Britney, not alone mind you, brought in the wave of dance and electro pop music to the airwaves starting in 2003. "Toxic" exploded on the scene when Urban music dominated the charts and airwaves. Nobody was using Pop music much during 2003-2006, it was mostly Hip hop and R&B, but Britney was able to shine during that period with dance pop.
She continued on from there in 2007 with Blackout, but before she released that Dance music was becoming all the rage. Madonna, Nelly Furtado, JT, Gwen S, Rihanna, etc. were killin' it. It was a collective effort, but let's not act like Britney wasn't one of the first to bring to popularity and over-used as it is today.

Christina obviously. Both tried to jump on the dance music bandwagon but one experimented with other sounds while the other just ran to the "in" producer

Ran to the "In" producer? Huh? Excuse me! Britney has worked with Dr. Luke WAYYYY before he became the "IN PRODUCER." Do some research, Britney first worked with him in 2006/2007 while recording Blackout. She continued to use him the following two albums and as for Max Martin, CLEARLY, he has worked with Britney since '97-present and is her most used producer to date. Y'all kill me sometimes!
