No, because cola is a specific drink, while pop/soda refers to a whole group of carbonated soft drinks including sprite, orange SODA (never heard of orange POP), etc.
I say Soda. However, I'm definately from Panama City Beach, Florida/Atlanta, Georgia, and either way, it's the south. Down here, we say "soda." I noticed all my friends from the north (Michigan, Iowa...etc.) say "pop." Even if I was given a choice, I'd still stick with soda. It has more of a distinct meaning. "Pop" has mulitiple meanings.
lol, Nick, school might be a different situation. Perhaps there are students from the south there? I uno. It was just a theory is all.
