I do that alot too. They should change the way they count when a song is played. I think that once 75% of a song is played its play count should increase.
if i listen to a song and then want to change it and count it as a play, i click to the end and it counts
Itunes sucks... sometimes I switch songs a few seconds before its over and it doesn't count it toward a play. This is also just a list from the last month or so because I just updated my Itunes
