Dance music will forever be around.
There's always going to be uptempo songs that every one loves to dance to.
We're talking about the dance music that's on the radio with the same repetitive elements in 98% of the songs.

This 100%. There will always be dance music in the charts.

Some people never understand what we mean when we talk about the dance-pop domination. YES, there will always be songs to dance to in the charts. In 2005, for example, there wasn't much David Guetta-esque dance-pop, but we had artists like Ciara doing crunk songs. It will always happen, but the type that dominates the radio now all sounds the same. It's very annoying.

I think the stuff on the charts is, but I still think there's potential in house music taking off. Especially from producers from other countries. When I went to South Africa a few months ago they play house music there but it has a bit of an African drum influence in it as well, it sounds so good and it's really unique. Concerning Rihanna, I would be here for her doing something experimental like that, but it probably won't happen.

I agree with the consensus on the stuff on the charts being overrun by generic, bland songs. I'm here for experimentation.

Instead of the same ole repetitive synth riffs, why not switch it and explore dance and electronica as a whole and incorporate some of those sounds and bring the underlying elements of dance music to mainstream?
I'm all for progression, and as of late, everything sounds the same.
No variation on the radio and that's what bothers me.
It makes room for no artist to shine and show their uniqueness and what they bring to the industry.
As of now, everyone is interchangeable.

But artists keep snatching up those beats. Usher, Britney, Nicki, Rihanna, etc. They need to DEMAND creativity/innovation from producers, rather than be the yes man to their radio-ready smashes!

I love dance music. It will get old but not for a long time. Like disco but more stretched.

I have a feeling dance will make up a huge part of the mainstream for an extremely long time, with specific subgenres becoming more popular at certain times. Dance is a very diverse genre underneath the surface and has endless potential. It's interesting. I'm not even close to being bored of it yet.

At the moment, RedOne is the worst dance pop producer out there! Although he has produced pop gems before (Bad Romance, On The Floor, etc.), he has since become the epitome of generic music. If I hear one more of his cheap dance breakdowns, I am going to scream! (No pun intended)

not dance music as in the stuff which is produced in and made for clubs, especially in europe where it has its roots. the kind of generic copy and paste dance production which american music culture has kinda taken for themselves is definitely boring now though

Dance music has always been around. It will never die because people always need something upbeat to have a good time to. I can't believe people actually think it started in 2008.. Apart from the U.S., the rest of the world has been embracing it for decades now.

It's radio imo. There are endless songs not played that are epic. I mean in the UK afrobeats is taking off finally in the mainstream, despite being huge on urban (which is worse UK wise...urban songs don't tend to chart well with like 1xtra/Kiss airplay alone). It's electronic music with heavy african beats. It's amazing:

Dance can and always will be inventive, but big producers rule the top 40 now, and it gets played.

House + Trance like dance remains exciting. However, popular American artists have abused and taken over the genre. It has progressed than what was before, but it all sounds the same.

I don't listen to popular dance music much. Dance music is still very exciting and refreshing if you know where to look.
