When is this going to end guys? We really need to come together and end this at every single level. Family members and friends were even making comments to him about his sexuality! What is it going to take to get people to stop the bullying that leads to these tragic losses! Discuss!

Apart from making gay youth feel like there's something "wrong" with them, bullies think it's okay to treat gay people like less than people, because the damn government does it, too.

Land of the free...with liberty and justice for all.

I mean, there is a certain level of homophobia in Mexico, but not this often, and not to this extent

This kid said he wouldn't say the Pledge of Allegiance until "There was really liberty and justice for all."

Since I heard about the kid saying that I don't say the Pledge of Allegiance. Since I stopped saying it more people at my school have stopped saying it. I felt so influential.

I haven't said the Pledge of Allegiance since 3rd grade...not even because of the "liberty and justice for all" part. I just thought it was creepy.

Yes, I have. People have always said not to bully people like that, and they have had public support im many ways. Gays have just started getting public support in such a way. I am not saying one is more important than the other, but the more progress we make, the more people are hostile towards the situation and it is causing things like this.

Gay kids are five times more likely to attempt suicide.

I was never bullied a day in my life. I am just trying to stick up for the people who have, sis.

I work in around school kids (junior high) and I'd say bullying due to being gay is about the same level as kids being fat, deformed, weird, etc. In other words, gays are not treated significantly worse than the fat kids (in fact, I think the fat kids getting treated far worse, but it's just my observation). One kid was suicidal just because kids would bully her for wearing all black and being emo.

Those of you who are anti-pledge - have you lived in other countries? really felt the oppressiveness of other governments? Believe me, America has FAR MORE FREEDOM than many other countries. So you should appreciate that. This country gives you the right to be gay, even if others may not accept it. Other places stone you to death or have you executed in some gruesome way. It saddens me when I learn that my family members shed blood so that people don't appreciate their hard work.

This country gives gays more freedom/rights than other countries give women, blacks, the poor.
