The reason why his happened this era was simple overexposure on media(her in the media and her huge promo) and radio after the success of her previous albums.

But after a year, the world is ready for Gaga once more and is ready to pop our tushies on the dancefloor.

The public is very fickle. They're already missing her.

I hope she does another TF(M) type strategy.

Let's just admit that gaga and her label totally made all of the wrong choices for the singles.

Bloody Mary, Government Hooker, Heavy Metal Lover, and Scheisse.

Those would have flopped.

The Edge of Glory was the best single, and it was ruined. I mean the video has been deleted from my memory.

I don't care, I just want the music videos damnit.

I would hardly say that Top 40 was open to anything other than dance pop produced by Dr. Luke at the time...

Can't get over how she ruined that era.

I think....

1. The Edge of Glory - Start the era off getting compared to Cher, it would have made more sense....
2. Heavy Metal Lover - The only likable dance song other than the one above
3. Scheisse - Probably would do well internationally, but I think radios would edit it to be 'without the sh.' So I don't know
4. Hair - Cute and fun

And after that I don't know or care

Adele is an exception to EVERYTHING. Album sales, radio support.

What? Last time I checked, she isn't a goddess.

It happens all the time in music. Trite and bland songs gets overplayed on the radio, something fresh and new comes along and catches peoples attention. Boom, instant success and fame.

Same thing happened to Gaga and as well as Adele.

No, the entire mainstream is slowly becoming less dance pop. There were a lot of popular adult contemporary singers back then. Bruno Mars, etc.

Pure Dance pop has never done well on the radio, either. There are very little radio formats that support it. Katy Perry and Rihanna appeal to an HAC/AC and rhythmic/urban audience. Songs like Marry The Night will never crossover to HAC/AC and rhythmic/urban. You And I can at least get AC and Top 40 plays.

The only reason The Edge of Glory was so successful was because of it's heavy AC airplay.

My point was that people use Adele's success as a counter-argument for everything, when her success is largely exceptional. Her commercial success with 21 has been greater than anything Gaga, Katy, or Rihanna will ever experience.
