Well, Bruno hasn't been in the public eye since his last single dropped out of the top 10; he can't release on short notice with little hype and expect to match Gaga's album sales. His next lead single will be big, but something tells me that after that he won't exactly be pumping out "Grenade"-type hits.

Bruno possibly peaked in 2010-2011; if his album is good it could bring him more success, but if it's not good enough he won't continue to be as big. Male pop artists are frequently short-lived in today's market (see Taio Cruz, Jason Derulo).

Gaga's sort of in her own league still. Sure it's been somewhat jeopardized by the less-than-stellar performance of the BTW era, but she is still the only person who sells 6 million albums a year, has worldwide smashes, and has absolutely huge tours. If she makes good music, nothing stands in her way at this point.

Now if she puts out another album with a ton of filler (though I do love those filler songs), she might not be so lucky.

To be honest, I like her voice better then too - I think smoking has caused a slight, but noticeable, change. I wish she'd stop. But her voice is still beautiful.

The album was not radio friendly enough to accumulate five number ones. Maybe three at most, but five?

Anyway, Bruno's debut sold a lot for a debut male effort. He could very well outsell her with support from the holiday season, because that time of year benefits AC artists like him and Adele the most.

Which is partly why Michael Buble's Christmas album, which outsold BTW in the US for the year of 2011, by the way, performed so much better than Bieber's.

For that matter, Bieber will outsell her too.

TFM didn't have half the hype that BTW did.

Bruno might have sold a lot in the past, but looking at his music and how male artists fare nowadays I'm not sure he'll do so well this time around. He could, but he also may not - it's not a sure thing by any means.

Bieber will probably outsell her, yes, but because of his endless army of teenage fans; they're the main music-buying demographic, and Gaga is somewhat disconnected from them. That's partly because of the maturity of some of her work and how parents often disallow their younger children from listening to her, and partly because BTW turned them off a little.

Hype doesn't keep you selling. The substance does. It can give you big opening numbers, but over time, the album and the era surrounding it put people off of her.

I think it is rather shameful that BTW hasn't crossed 4M in the US yet. It's sales are rather underwhelming for a six week number one.

Well you can't expect too much from a song like that; LGBT issues are still very controversial, and a lot of people who may have at one point been casual fans of hers will not have bought it if they disagree with her. I'm more proud of the fact that she's the first artist to be so blunt and open about the LGBT community and get a massive hit out of it.
