He’s been with BB since the first series and we can confirm – Mike Goldman is back for Big Brother 2012! Official Big Brother Australia caught up with Mike to get his thoughts on the upcoming series.
What have you been doing to get yourself ready for the show?
I’ve been narrating everything. I get up in the morning and I see my flatmate walk to the loungeroom and I go, “It’s ten past eight on Monday morning. Ben is late out of his bedroom. He has to be at work in half an hour. If he’s not there, he could face the sack.” My friends are getting annoyed with me so it will be nice to be able to do that in the protection of a padded voiceover booth.
What have you always liked narrating in the past?
The romances, the love affairs, the relationships, the fights, the drama… It’s all great. I like helping the producers of the show tell the story as to what’s going on.
Most memorable moments?
The ones where I have cried. I remember when Reggie said she didn’t want to go back to her life. She stood there and she cried … and you know, we fall in love with these people and understand their lives and their personalities and where they’ve been and what they’ve done. You really feel a part of the House in so many ways. You get to know these people and you feel like they’re a part of your family and you start to care for them - and when they’re crying their eyes out saying they don’t want to go back to their lives, then you don’t want them to either! You want their life to change. [There are more…] when Marty and Jess said “I love you” and kissed each other, and they ended up getting married! When Sarah-Marie – a big beautiful girl, doing a bum dance – showed how great it is to be yourself and not care what anyone thinks. Those are the amazing moments which I long for and which I’ve missed, not having Big Brother in my life.
Have you seen the Big Brother Shuffle yet?
Sonia Kruger can DANCE! We knew that anyway from Strictly Ballroom and Dancing With the Stars but man, she’s got some moves!
Are you looking forward to working with her?
Oh yeah I can’t wait! She’s such a delight to work with and such a legend in Australia. She’s completely different to any other host we’ve had and I think that will just add to the show.
What are you most looking forward to about BB’s return?
Free sandwiches on Sunday nights! I sneak into the Press Room and eat free sandwiches. Sometimes I even pocket some for lunch the next day…
What have you missed the most?
I’ve missed Big Brother’s announcements in my dressing room. He does special announcements over the speakers into my dressing room … “This is Big Brother. Goldman, we need you in the voiceover booth. Immediately.”
Were you excited to get the call up?
I’m a fan, I would have watched it anyway but I am glad to be coming back and be a part of the greatest show on earth!
