Can we? I think it's about time we recognize that album sales are simply not just gonna change overnight. In times like ours album sales seem to only be getting lower and lower. Big artists (Insert nearly any major artist here, you'll still get the same result) are being hyped and expected to sell HUGEE yet fail and first week sales continue to dissapoint. Isn't anyone noticing? Madonna, Usher, Rihanna, Beyoncé, GaGa and many more are slowly losing their commercial success as either their albums or singles from a recent era have not had success as well as movies too. Isn't everyone a "flop" these days? So what's the point of continuing to point it out all the time? Maybe people aren't necessarily flopping, maybe it's just that the standards for success have been lowered, not on purpose.
I know it may be hard to understand, but what I'm saying is, what's the point of calling anyone a flop anymore, when just about EVERYONES flopping. Yes, I know except Adele atm. But honestly who knows how long that lucky streak is gonna last. Since commercial success is decreasing, maybe expectations should as well.*
Everyone can't be a flop at the same time. As album sales decrease so do standards of album sales. More people are illegally downloading than actually going out and buying albums or buying singles on iTunes.
Accolades and sales are the most objective way. Even accolades, not so much. Someone is still judging if the music is "good" or not. If I'm such a mess, how can you objectively look at music?
