Britney, Beyonce, Gaga, Rihanna, Katy, hell, even Ke$ha, all have been able to, at some point, give us at least one iconic video, look, performance, etc. the way Madonna was able to before. That's what makes all these debates about who the next Queen of Pop is valid.
These newer male artists, on the other hand, never give us anything iconic. No iconic videos, performances, looks, etc. Nothing. They don't have the image or persona to match their music. That's why none of them will ever come close to MJ.

You have it exactly right. Nothing more on this topic needs to be said.

, he really was never that big WorldWide to begin with. And there's only one king who's michael jackson, and usher spent all of his career trying to be the next michael but he failed because there's more than just dancing and shaking your body on the stage.

You gurls really are dim aren't you?
You realise LA Times don't actually think he is the new King of Pop, otherwise they would have already called him it?
The fact that they said 'He's the closest viable heir' proves they aren't saying that any present artist is worthy of the title.
They are just saying that out of all the male artists out there, he's the closer to that status than anyone else.

This album may not have a huge sales week, but it's still a really good album, and those saying it's not, haven't even heard the album. Usher may not be the King of Pop, but he is the closest of his peers.
Justin Timberlake hasn't put out an album since 2006, so anyone clinging onto 2006 receipts is just delusional

I think we all know why people try to consider JT a viable option but the truth is that JT is not invested in music as much as Usher is. Usher has sales, classic records, impact and performance skills that make him the most successful male artist of the last 15 years (outside of Eminem).

I like Usher a lot, but if it wasn't for the fact that he could sing, he would be useless in 2012. He's become a tired old man singing about nothing, pushing nothing, evolving nothing, with weak knees and a bad haircut.
He hasn't had an amazing music video or performance since 2004.

Maybe "iconic" is a bit of a stretch, but I just meant that Ke$ha has a distinguished signature style (of both her look and her sound) that's very much her.
One could feasibly dress up like Ke$ha for Halloween or whatever, and people would recognize it as Ke$ha. It'd be impossible to dress up like Bieber, Usher, JT, etc., because none of them have any sort of signature style.

this has been known for years...even while MJ was living
I think Chris was in the running before the incident

Death at those saying Justin Timberlake is a more viable candidate to the throne when he hasn't released an album for over half a decade.

False. Usher has YET to make an everlasting impact on a generation or the world as a whole. His music doesn't send a strong message. Right now, no male artist comes close to what MJ has done.

Justin bieber- the old haircut was a halloween costume. Even lesbians won award for best lookalike of JB. I can't make this stuff up.
Other than that, I see your point.
