Au$tin's Top 30
June 24, 2012
For the second week in a row, there are no new debuts this week, making this only the second week in history with that anomaly. This week, Ellie Goulding was able to defend the number one title for another week, bringing her total to two weeks. How much longer will she have it? That's hard to say. Katy Perry propelled up from number three to number two thanks to the help of the music video release. Cher Lloyd takes a nice jump six notches into the top ten, and could pose a threat for future number one, as well as Breathe Carolina, who move six to five in only its third week. However, the big story this week is Alanis Morissette who leaps ten spots from 23 to 13, earning her the biggest gain of the week. On the other side, Alex Clare tumbles 19 to 26, earning him the biggest loss of the week. This comes as a strange surprise as this makes the song the first to score that title in two completely different months. The song dropped from 18 to 28 back in April. The longest chart sitter is yet again Demi Lovato, as she moves up 20 to 19. The song's amazing longevity on the pop chart is definitely helping to fuel its long stay on my chart. However, Karmin are only one week behind with their four-week-run number one, "Brokenhearted," which is stagnant this week at number 27, but Nicki Minaj puts in another week on the chart with "Starships," which jumps 24-18 in its 18th week. Quite an oddball jump which could very likely pose a threat to Demi and Karmin for longest chart sitter of all time, currently held by "Give Your Heart a Break," which is the only song left from the chart's very first week. Once again, there are no adds to report, however it should be noted that songs from Kelly Clarkson, Jason Mraz, and Casey Abrams missed the top 30 by less than one point, and look to debut next week.
