I have a co-worker who grew up with Madonna and had been to many of her tours, and when Born This Way came out he didn't hear much of a connection either and thought people were just jumping to attack Gaga.

She closes her eyes, takes a long breath, holds her breath. She invokes who knows which kind of saints or demons to keep her self control: "She is an artist with a great, high level of talent.".

That part made me lol so hard, I can already picture Madonna closing her eyes and taking her pause before speaking LOL.

Madonna doesn't know anything about Dante's Inferno. You start off in the first ring of Hell, which is the lightest and least punishable ring of them all. As you progress, the rings get significantly darker and more gruesome. The devil inhabits the icy hell that is the ninth and final/darkest ring. After the ninth ring, you enter Purgatory, which is an entirely separate work by Dante that is also plagued by the absence of light. She should have referred to the Divine Comedy, which is the entire series that contains Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. Then again, she only referred to Dante because she has an artificially skewed view of the significance of her tour. I am convinced she had someone read Inferno to her backwards.

Once again, Madonna doesn't know what she is talking about.
