Police are investigating a bar brawl that erupted after a dispute between Chris Brown and Drake early Thursday at a Manhattan nightclub, NBC 4 New York has learned.

In the melee, Brown was struck on the chin by a bottle and suffered a small cut, sources tell NBC 4 New York. He told police that he did not see who threw the bottle. His girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, was later treated for a possible concussion, sources said.
Sources tell NBC 4 New York that earlier in the night, Brown sent a bottle of Champagne to Drake's table as a peace offering because the pair have had an ongoing dispute. Drake then allegedly sent back the bottle with a note that he was still sleeping with Rihanna, Brown's ex-girlfriend.

Brown's bodyguard has told detectives that the rappers exchanged words, sources said. And then as Brown was leaving the SoHo club with his bodyguard, members of Drake's entourage confronted him.

Witnesses say there was a brief staredown between the groups, and members of Drake's group removed their shirts. Pushing and shoving then ensued.


Brown was interviewed by police Thursday, sources tell NBC 4 New York, and disputed part of that account. He told police that he was approached by two men who asked him what his problem was with Drake, and told them that he had no problem.

Brown then told police that as he was leaving, several men stood in front of him on the dance floor and removed their shirts. Brown told police that he did not see Drake, sources said.
Sources tell NBC 4 New York that someone in the crowd threw ice, and then bottles were thrown.

Brown's bodyguard was struck in the head and Brown was escorted out of the club into a waiting car.

Five other people who were injured appeared to have no association with either singer.

At this point, a source says there's no indication Brown or Drake committed a crime.


A spokesman for Brown said the singer, his girlfriend and friends "were victims of a brutal attack" at the club.

"They sustained several injuries," the spokesman said. "Chris and his party are cooperating with NY authorities who are pursuing this incident further."

A rep for Drake said in a statement that he "did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind" at the club.

"He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began," the statement said. "He did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property."

Drake and Chris Brown fighting over Rihanna. It's the story that you haven't been able to escape. The first developments hit this morning with Chris Brown posting and (and subsequently deleting) tweets about the incident, along with a picture of his injured chin. Then Twitter exploded with the news and #DrakeRanToTheBathroomBecause became a trending topic.

By the early afternoon, Drake's reps released a statement claiming that he wasn't involved in the brawl, and reports surfaced that it was instead Meek Mill who got physical with Chris Brown. Then Chris Brown sent this peaceful tweet to Meek Mill, making any beef between them seem unlikely.

It's been a day full of dramatic reports that weave an intricate web of rumors and hearsay, but Complex actually spoke to someone who was at W.i.P. last night. Read Ninjasonik rapper Telli's play-by-play account of last night's events below:

"That **** was chaos. Whatever the feud was between them, it was crazy. It was so crowded and loud in there. It turned into a melee. It was ****** throwing bottles and buckets and tables. This ***** Chris Brown running out the spot and this ***** throwing bottles at the *****. ****** dead-ass hitting him with the bottle as he running out the ****. It was crazy in there.

The ***** Meek, he had nothing to do with the ****. He was in there, but he was chilling. All them ****** were in the middle, and Drake was in the cut. When you first walk in—I don’t know if you know how W.i.P. goes—it's like a big-ass U.

Drake was in the back chilling with the homies. Mad ****** just doing their own thing, minding their own business. Chris was in the front walking in the middle of the U. In the back of the U is Meek and all them ******, but they were just chilling. It was everybody partying. That was the most bottles I’ve seen in a while. There was bottles everywhere.

When the **** ensued, I was on my own wave, but then I seen the commotion. When the commotion happened, when it popped off, it was crazy. I didn’t really see them two ****** going at it. I just saw the commotion. I was in the mix of that. He was in the middle. I wasn’t like right there in the middle, I was doing my own thing. But when it started popping off, it was like a brawl in the middle of that. Fists were flying. It was crazy in there. They popped off. We went over there when we heard. I wasn’t watching a ***** and what he was doing. He was over there. It popped off quick.

They got it on. It wasn’t no random fight. Them ****** got it on. It was crazy. If you was there, you would have ****ed around and got hit with a bottle. It was crazy. It went from being the funnest party, wildest party—bottles and bitches everywhere—to chaos. Chaos. Bottles flying. People were swinging trying to hit anybody. Drake was in there. He was with the ****** I knew, and he had his ****** with him. When I came in there and seen the ***** there, everybody was in the middle, like all the celebrities. He was on the outskirts, chilling at the booth. Chilling. He had ****** I knew with him, and he had his team. He was in there thick. I wouldn’t try the ****** for no reason. He didn’t look suspect to me. Drake wasn’t in the middle of that ****, though. Like I said, when we was over there, they got into it. He wasn’t fighting. He wasn’t wilding like that.

Chris Brown has spoken with New York Police Dept. detectives about the bar fight that left a gash in his chin ... and law enforcement sources tell us his lawyer has given the NYPD "physical evidence" which allegedly shows Drake was involved in the melee.

We're told Chris' lawyer, Mark Geragos, went to the NYPD late today to present evidence showing that Drake and Meek Mill were the aggressors, but earlier in the day Chris spoke with Detectives at an undisclosed location in NYC. Cops tell us Chris is not currently a suspect but rather "a witness and a victim." We're also told Drake is not currently a suspect.

On the other side, we're told Drake has been "cooperating" with authorities, but we do not know if he has spoken to cops -- it appears his representatives have had conversations with detectives.

Sources tell us ... the bad guy here may be someone in Chris' camp, who was inciting Drake and his people all night.

As we previously reported both Chris and Drake were trash talking each other before the fight, flipping each other off and what not.

I doubt they have actual footage of the brawl but I think the footage IS from the night of the brawl...Chris is wearing the same thing in the video and in this pic taken inside of WIP (where the fight took place)
