Call Me Maybe- Sales: 300,000/280,000 ~ Airplay: 110 million ~ Streaming: 1.1 million/1 million = Max. 235.5/Min. 222.5
Somebody That I used To Know- Sales: 230,000/210,000 ~ Airplay: 143 million ~ Streaming: 1.1 million/1 million = Max. 225.65/Min. 212.65
So... If Call Me Maybe is at the lowest it can be this week in everything with 222.5 points, then Somebody That I Used to Know will triumph.... if it is at the highest it can possibly be in every factor...
I'd give Carly the edge here...
(The points are based on this formula> Sales *0.40 + Airplay *0.55 + Streaming *0.05 = Total points)

"Climax" is still far from leaving the top spot on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. It's hanging up well on Urban and still increasing on UAC. I hope it can block that "Cashin' Out" song at least.

Yes These songs are not so good but they deserve it way more than the songs currently in the top 10. Especially Lights even though Ellie has better songs.

I like Climax, but that's not much of an achievement. It's got hardly any competition. Urban radio don't have many big new songs to play at the moment.
Same on the rap chart. The Motto was #1 for like 3-4 months, simply because there was just no other popular rap songs out. And now Drank in My Cup is #1 there, and hardly anybody knows it, it's just there by default.

I don't think that's fair to both songs. They aren't/weren't just big because no one's around, they were pretty massive songs. Hence both reaching so high on BB's 100.
"Climax" has also held off "Cake" and is currently fighting new Trey, Khaled, Kanye, etc. which are pretty popular atm.

Drank In My Cup isn't massive at all. It didn't get that high in the Hot 100, and I bet most of the people on this forum have never heard the song.
I do like both the songs though, but this is the quiestest time for urban music I've ever seen tbh. It probably hasn't been like this since the 80's.

DIMC is massive on Rhythmic and pretty big on Urban radios, and that's what the Rap Songs chart stands for.

Well I was referring to "Climax"/"The Motto" when I said the two songs. Those were way more than 'default' number ones and even today "Climax" is a bulleted #1 with competitive songs trying to knock it off. But on that note, DIMC is huge. If you're judging these songs based on what ATRL members may or may not then yes, it's not going to be a popular topic. It's also at #29 on the Hot 100 currently, which is good enough I'd say.

The Motto was pretty big, even though it missed the top 10. It's spent like 6 months in the chart and only recently peaked, which is amazing.
I don't think #29 marks a big hit at all tbh, and I'd be surprised if Drank in My Cup made the year-end top 100. I mean, I think that's similar to where Marry the Night peaked, isn't it? Those just aren't big hits. I'd go as far as saying flops.
Mercy by Kanye West seems to be the only one with potential at the moment. I can see it getting top 20 in a few weeks.

It's a flop for a pop girl but successful for an urban artist. R&B/Hip-Hip artists have been relegated to that section of the Hot 100 for a while now.

MTN is by an extremely popular pop star whose other singles were all top 10 hits. DIMC is by a not-so-popular urban artist. "Flops" are relative. I don't think it's fair to compare DIMC to MTN. I don't think DIMC was "huge," but it is successful for an urban artist, especially one who doesn't have a following.

Yeah, I guess that's not a good comparison really lol.
I think at this stage, Rihanna is the only person who's capable of getting a big hit with an urban song, if she chooses to release another single from Talk That Talk.
Usher's album has a lot of potential, but I'm pretty sure he'll use Euphoria as his next single.

"Climax" had potential to do that. The problem with Usher's urban songs is not that they can't become big hits outside of the urban charts; it's that he doesn't push his urban songs as much as he does his pop singles and that's sad. "Climax" got to #17 without much pop support, but he quickly moved on to "Scream," a song that has already hit a bump in the road.

Usher still has at least another big urban hit on this album. "Dive" is crying out for a release.

"Climax" didn't need pushing. He actually gave it a lot of attention, especially internationally. Pop was never going to pick it up anymore and the major promo was always going to come closer to the album release (SNL, Today Show, etc.). It's done amazing.

Yeah. He released Scream before Climax had peaked even. I think if he had left it long enough, pop radio might've caved in and played Climax, but they obviously won't need to play it now that they have Scream.
I don't think any of the urban songs from Usher's album will be big hits (e.g. top 10).
The only one I can realistically see happening in the next few months is Cockiness by Rihanna.
