If the cashier looks like they're judgemental, I either get a more "reasonable" album or high tail it out of there. Honestly, I wouldn't go to stores if I didn't prefer physical cd's the way I do.

I've never had an embarrassing experience, but I was embarrassed for my cashier. I bought Teenage Dream at Target, and when the girl saw what cd it was, she started singing the chorus of I Kissed a Girl and flirting with me. Not only was the singing horrible, I felt bad for her for actually thinking I was straight.

Oh and reading through the thread reminded me. I bought the Hairspray soundtrack back when the re-make with Zac Efron came out, and the cashier asked me if it was a Mother's Day gift. No, I was a 16 year old, show tunes loving homosexual.

Whenever I go buy a CD the people at the store are so nice. Even though they're all super hipster they don't judge me when I ask for a Rihanna album. And they even try to have a discussion with me about Rihanna's music or they show me her concert DVD even though I already have it lol.

The staff at the stores y'all go to are so rude, how did they even get a customer service job in the first place?

When I was buying "Mylo Xyloto" I didn't knew how to pronounce the name and the guy was:

I was at walmart and I whent with my older brother. He wanted to buy some call of duty game and I tagged along so I can get a cd. I found shakiras she wolf album and popped it on the counter next to my brothers game. The cashier looked at my brother and said "Shakira? Really?" I died and looked at my brother who is very short tempered and quick to start fighting. My brother yells at the dude to mind his buisness and just scan it.

Why are all the cashiers so rude where you lot live!? that would be like going into a clothes shop, buying a skirt & the person at the till saying "This, pattern REALLY!?' they're there to sell you stuff, not judge your tastes.

The people in HMV in the UK all tend to be really nice, i've not had any awkward CD experiences. It tends to be worse for me buying DVDs cause I look young, I get asked for ID a lot, the most embarrassing was being asked for ID when I was like 16 for an anime DVD that had a 12 rating!!! Also last year when I was 19 I tried to buy The Shining DVD but was turned away from the queue in front of everyone because no ID...

I hate asking the old people in walmart where the new Beyoncé CD/DVD is

When I was younger, I used to group a bunch of other **** with a CD that would be potentially embarrassing to buy on its own. Now, I just don't give a damn.
