They're not actually impossible today anymore. Since the numbers got re-adjusted, if someone has a huge multi-format smash, ala We Belong Together which smashed on Pop, Urban, Rhythmic and Hot AC (and some AC + few other million AI from different formats) they maybe could pass her record.
Recent format #1s peak audiences:
Pop: 111 million (WAY)
Rhythmic: 47 million (The Motto)
Urban: 31 million (Climax)
Hot AC: 38 million (Stronger)
AC: 18 million (SFTTR)
Very unlikely to happen but we could get a song in the near-future which might be a massive crossover hit.
And it passes Payphone, at least Payphone it has more room to grow on Pop, CMM not that much.. BUT CMM has HAC, so we'll see.. I predict for Call Me Maybe: 155-170M peak
