Meanwhile, while Nicki is amazing at rapping, she is horrendous at singing. All her attempts, at least her televised ones, are sub par and can barely be heard over the backing track. While Rihanna too has backing, she doesn't sing WITH the track like Nicki. She sings OVER the track and her vocals can be clearly heard.

And all fields matter when you are comparing two people's talent. Even if neither of them are fantastic in the field, one is still going to be better than the other.
