Nah, talent isn't inherited.
There's things like playing piano and singing in which one could say, "Well I was born with longer fingers" or "I was born with strong vocal cords - I screamed downE that delivery room." But truly, it's about what you're surrounded by as a child. If your surrounded by lots of music as a young child, chances are you might dabble into music and find a talent there, for example. And that's why it seems like talent is inherited at times. Parents who have a love of something are more likely to surround their kids with that than parents who don't. For example, Mariah's mom was an opera singer. Therefore, right off the bat, Mariah was surrounded by opera singing. She ended up singing Opera with her mother on stage by the age of 5 or so.
But yeah, I definitely think the biggest factor is what your surrounded by. Almost every talented person can trace their love of that talent to back when they were a kid. For a personal example, I remember being GLUED to the TV, watching "Art Attack" on ITV. I also loved coloring books, and I never colored out the lines. So it's not surprising that one of my talents is in art.
That's what I think.
