In terms of vocal talent, Britney is way out of prime. She's been in the industry for nearly 20 years, and her vocals have taken a huge dip, although according to some, she performed "Everytime" live very well during a select date in the Femme Fatale show. Irregardless, Lana's songs have more emotion and raw feeling than Brit's (current) songs. When I listen to Lana, I become emotional, invigorated. She's selling what she's saying.
However, in terms of overall stage presence, Britney hauls ahead by a landslide. She's had months upon months, years upon years, and almost 2 decades of training. It must tell you something when people spend $500 for concert tickets just to see someone dance, knowing they're going to be lip-syncing. Britney is known for her stage presence and her amazing shows. Unfortunately, Lana is know for her twirly stage shows (her stunt on SNL). Don't get me wrong, Lana is a PHENOMINAL vocalist. However, I feel like if I went to a Lana concert, I wouldn't be expecting a show, I wouldn't be expecting anything but her singing her songs and eating her words, for the better part. Sure, I would love it and enjoy it, but not as much as I would sonically and visually like Britney.
In conclusion, Lana is just starting, so comparing her to an artist who is already considered by many to be a legend and the "Princess of Pop" isn't very fair. In all realistic sense, Britney is a more talented artist based on her career so far. Her performances, her chart toppers, and her first few eras are golden, and really can't be touched by anyone in our current pop generation. (Gaga and Katy come close, but compared to Britney performance wise, they cannot touch). Lana, over time, may mature into a more visual person, but as of now, she has a lot of work to be considered even near Britney in any aspect aside of her voice. You can sing all about it, but you have to be able to give the people a visual; it's what they need and want. We as humans have a visual craving, and Lana simply can't supply that.
