Personally I think its success is almost unprecedented but I know some people feel she has not done quite as amazingly as the records and statistics make out.

Just wondered what the general consensus on this was.

I wouldn't say it was Thriller-level

It's a great album, but won't have any impact other than leaving a hole in peoples pockets and reaching massive sales.

Adele effortlessly snatched wigs with the 21 era, and that's just plain ol basic fact. That is all.

The fact that its selling TREMENDOUSLY in this digital day and age! is a force to behold!

Girlfriend could be this generation's legend. I will wait and see tho, until she released her 4th album.

Selling over 20M albums (and a gazillion singles) in the digital era and during high piracy levels is unprecedented and shows IMPACT, whether people want to admit it or not. You can't name another artist in this digital age who has been able to do it, and there probably won't be another album to see this type of success in a long time, not even from Adele.

She didn't influence anything. Her music isn't new. Do you think that any of her songs will be remembered because of the musical/cultural impact? I love her and 21 is a solid album... but it's not a standout. And neither is she. At least Norah Jones brought something new to the game back in 2003.
