Bieber's $20M revolutionary perfume campaign

Quote:
Justin Bieber has been recognized for his heavy presence in social media, and now he’s taking that to a whole new level by leaving fans on the edge of their seats waiting for him to tweet about his newest fragrance.
Bieber’s last fragrance, Someday, became the fastest-selling celebrity fragrance in history, so it’s no wonder he set out on creating a follow-up fragrance.
The new fragrance, called Justin Bieber’s Girlfriend, will get the social media treatment across platforms such as Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and Viddy, MSNBC reports.
The reason it’s such a big deal is because the “Boyfriend” singer’s team announced they’re dishing out about $20 million to promote the fragrance through social media.
Justin Bieber’s Girlfriend will hit Macy’s stores on June 18, and will also be sold at Belk, Dillard’s, Nordstrom and Sephora, The New York Times reports.
Bieber will appear on Facebook, where he has about 44 million “likes,” and Viddy this week to ask fans to participate in “sing-off” on Tumblr to create a commercial for the new fragrance, which will last one minute long, and will be made up of clips of his fans singing “Boyfriend” but changing the lyric to “Girlfriend” in honor of his fragrance.

Someday is already one of the most successful celebrity fragrances in history, and the scale of this marketing campaign is unheard of.
With two albums, a fragrance, another concert movie, an actual basketball movie, his dolls, a massive world tour with an upfront $80 million paycheck, and his record-setting cosmetic line, how high can Bieber go this year?

It's fascinating seeing a brand like his unfold in front of our eyes.
I just really hate how he says he does everything for the fans but it seems like everything is about bringing in the money for this guy. His team would be stupid for not capitalizing on him but I mean at least try and make yourself seem genuine.

It's incredible. He might be the biggest commercial phenomenon the music industry has seen since the likes of The Beatles and Michael Jackson.

Whether his efforts are genuine or not, he's rolling in cash.

People make fun of it for being a women's fragrance, but who cares. He knows his fan base and the effect he has on them, so he's working with it and it's working for him.

His team knows what he's doing but yes, This whole thing makes it seem like all Justin cares about is money, taking advantage of his power in social media and between teen girls. Even if it isn't, it DOES look like it, don't get me wrong, I know he loves his fans, but spending so much on the promotion of a FRAGANCE on social media is suspicious.

But he's extremely local. He's not selling out stadiums all over the world like Gaga tho. So how could he be up there with Music legends like MJ & Beatles in terms of commercial success? He's only been around for like 3 years tops and his music success isn't anything extraordinary compared to his endorsements.

And? All celebrities care about money. Some are just better at hiding it than others.

His ticket prices are SOOOO expensive. There are girls at my school who payed like $400 a piece for tickets up in the stands.
And if I recall he sold out his entire tour in like 5 hours or something.

This era will demonstrate his power. His foreign grosses were colossal from his first tour, and they're going to be much, much bigger this time around.
I'm still doing some receipt-checking, but it's likely that his first tour is among the three biggest (maybe even the highest-grossing) tour ever by a male pop artist.
It's way too early to tell because of the limited information, but if they do an adequate number of dates, his next tour could challenge Bruce Springsteen for the highest-grossing tour by a male artist in history.

His first tour grossed nearly $150M. And the first leg of it was about the equivalent of Gaga's earliest touring days.
