Although I don't get why you're comparing the 2011 sales of an album that had 7 months to sell as much as Rihanna sold in a whole year, and the ones of 7-month-old album to a 13-month-old one.

Rihanna is obviously more successful in the UK, and Gaga's only way to defend herself are tour receipts.

Difficult question but it's RiRi.

Everything she touches here turns to gold - one of the top 10 bestselling singles artists of all time, and her albums (unlike in the US) also reach No 1 here.

Gaga was huuuuuuge here during The Fame (Monster) era here though - it's one of the top 30 albums of all time in the UK. But she is fading a bit it must be said.

Gaga was huuuuuuge here during The Fame (Monster) era here though - it's one of the top 30 albums of all time in the UK. But she is fading a bit it must be said.

Her albums would reach number one if she avoided the crowded holiday season where Christmas albums will outsell her no matter what.

Tbh I didn't know Rihanna was so much bigger in the UK. I live in the US. I'm not a Gaga fan, I'm just surprised by this. I kind of assumed Gaga is bigger everywhere. Sure Rihanna has more hits but she just seems more basic. I guess I am so used to ATRL and seeing all the things Gaga does all over my tumblr dash that I can't look at it from an objective citizen standpoint though. As pop fans we are biased because we know so much more about pop music than average fans/listeners.

She's not "so much bigger" here, but she has built up a fanbase over a number of years who buy all her singles (solo and collabs), albums (she even beat One Direction to the No 1 spot in the charts), and lap up her live performances (she's headlining the Hackney Weekend this summer).

GaGa is of course extremely famous here and her first album did tremendously well. However many are not sure if she'll last the course and she's therefore not proven as consistently popular as RiRi.

SMH, Gaga isn't fading in the UK. She sold out Twickenham Stadium TWICE in like 10 minutes each time tickets were released and 2 dates in Manchester. She'd be fading if she was struggling to sell out the 02 Arena or the MEN Arena, whereas, this era, she's upgraded in London and is playing to 160,000 people in 2 dates. Just because MTN didn't go Top 10, doesn't mean that Gaga's fading, if you use that logic, then Rihanna's fading b/c You Da One and TTT didn't go Top 10.
