Back In Time is literally the PITS. I love me some Pitbull, but that song is just awful.
Bieber needs to get his ass to #1. this **** desereves second single status.
Kinda dissapointed in Where Have You Been. Guess public really does need a break.

Is CMM's lead that huge that AAtW still isn't #1?

I'm thinking it is, she sold 300,000 last week, and this week she might do a little more than that, so she's probably selling in the 310s...... Maybe

Was there a lot of huge more R&B type songs in 2005? I'm just guessing now; they probably were massive crossover hits, meaning they had huge airplay on all formats ( We belong Together, Mario Let Me Love You etc). This AirPlay probably managed to keep the songs at #1 for a long time.
EDIT: I think Gold Digger as well. + Hips don't lie (not sure)

Yes, his music is never supported by the radio stations in the beginning, is the people who make his music top 5 on itunes
I've got to the conclusion that Pitbull doesn't pay payola, and that's why his music takes so long to smash on the radio.
I think Pitbull's music is master piece, never burns out fast, and that's why he doesn't rely on radio support to make the top 10s on itunes.
Radio can play whatever they like, but people is not fool. People knows the real deal, and they know that Pitbull always comes out with master pieces. Back in time is underrated now, but who cares? even Beethoven and Mozart's songs were underrated in the 18th century.
And yes! "Get it started for life ft Shakira is coming soon, the revolutionary Pitbull is coming with another master piece!

A couple of pages ago, someone was asking whether streaming might decrease the amount of #1s compared to previous years. I think it will, although we'll have to wait a few more months to see for sure. The previous years had this many #1s:
2000: 18
2001: 15
2002: 9
2003: 12
2004: 12
2005: 8 (the lowest number of ALL TIME apparently!!!!)
2006: 19
2007: 18
2008: 14
2009: 13 (pretty impressive considering the BEPs took up half the year lol)
2010: 17
2011: 14
2012 so far: 7
We should at least beat 2002 and 2005 for #1s.
We are set to beat 2011 even, since we're less than halfway through the year, and already got half the amount of #1s (and the current one is close to the end of its run), but of course streaming might slow it down from now on. We'll have to see I guess.
What I do find strange is how there were 8 #1s and 2005 and then a massive 19 #1s in 2006. I did think 2006 and 2007 were very "chaotic" years in pop music, with so much going on, but I still think it's strange. They started including downloads in the chart in 2005, so you would've expected the big jump between 2004 and 2005, if anything.

2005 had several songs that had huge AI, a couple even having over 200 million, which held the chart on lockdown for a lot of the year. We Belong Together, Candy Shop, Let Me Love You, and Gold Digger.
Gold Digger is the funniest of them all, because that was when Kanye controversially said that Bush didn't care about black people.

To whoever said about Hips Don't Lie, that was #1 in 2006, not 2005.
But yeah, 2005 had lots of crossover hits I guess. Even ones like Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani. That did surprisingly good on urban radio. We haven't really had any crossover pop/urban hits this year. ****** in Paris is the closest we had I think.
I LOVED 2006 aswell. Especially as a fan of Nelly Furtado and Fergie. They were dominating then. Also Justin Timberlake, who I really miss. The main thing I didn't like about 2006 was Deja Vu underperforming for Beyonce. But luckily Irreplaceable came to save the era!
My personal favourite year was 2003, but I loved all of the 2002-2007 period, but I found it started to get a bit boring after that. But I've actually really liked 2012 so far, even though it's been a pretty quiet year so far.

Does Lollipop have anything to do with this?
2008 was decent though, but I was so pissed off Madonna didn't get #1 on the Hot 100 even though she was #1 on iTunes for ages.
2008 was the year of Chris Brown imo. He was having hit after hit. No Air, Forever, Kiss Kiss, With You. He was like the Katy Perry of 2008 haha.
T.I. and Rihanna were also massive that year (as was their collaboration lol).

Yeah, he was big that year. My favourite of his features from around that time were My Life by The Game and Let It Rock by Kevin Rudolf.
And the Love in This Club remix he did with Beyonce was hot too.

No People, I'm not a hater, and I don't have anything against Rihanna. I think she has good music.

I'm just a fan of Pitbull who sees the injustice that radio is doing to him, so I get mad because of that.
But I also think that Back in time is a really good song, and the numbers don't lie, and that's why it's doing so well on itunes, amazon top 10 in both digital stores.
I mean he is competing against songs that are getting the triple of his airplay, yet the song is a fighter and refuses to leave the top 10 even if the radio is ignoring its commercial success.
I don't know how long it's going to hold there without radio play, but let's give prop to Pitbull, for having the song with the least airplay in the top 10 on itunes. I think that is legendary!

But Back In Time isn't the song with less airplay in the top 10.
